Push the Drum Major trolley close to the drum. Hook both sliding rim grabs over the drum top rim. (Note that you have a choice of long or short grabs according to the drum rim thickness).
As you pull the drum back towards you, place your foot on the lower axle and push the trolley feet under the drum at the same time until the drum is loaded. Remove your foot from the axle.
Important Note: Be very sure that the drum feet are UNDER the drum, as they may puncture the drum otherwise.
Pull the trolley handles down until the drum is sitting on all four wheels and balanced. When turning, raise the small wheels off the floor slightly.
Fit a tap to the 50 mm bung, and have the bung face you when loading the drum onto the trolley.
Pull the Drum Major handles all the way down to the horizontal position until the axle moves past vertical under spring pressure. To stop the trolley from moving, apply the brake (lever all the way down).
Place a 20 or 25 Ltr pail under the tap and decant as much product as you need. You may need to undo the small bung now at the top of the drum, in order to introduce air into the drum.
If the drum position is not correct for decanting, or if there is a leak, simply rotate the drum to another position. You will need to remove the drum rim grabs in order to rotate the drum. Remember to replace them prior to tipping the drum back up.
Make sure that the brake is on, and the rim grabs are over the drum rim, then push the trolley forward. As you do so, the front left hand wheel will lock up and the axle will begin to fold back under the trolley.
At the four or two-wheeled angled position, release the brake (pull up to horizontal). The Drum Major can now be wheeled around as before.
Simply push the top of the handles into the drum space, and the feet will pop out. Remove the drum rim grabs and the trolley is then free of the drum.
The Drum Major requires a solid fulcrum point, so the drum must be inside the pallet by 25 mm (1″) at all times.
To load, simply push the drum trolley in the four wheeled position straight into the pallet until it stops. Keeping forward pressure against the pallet at all times, simply raise the Drum Major handles until the drum is on the pallet. To remove the trolley, push the handles into the drum space in order to pop the feet out. Remove the drum rim grabs.
To unload, make sure that the drum is inside the pallet by 25 mm. Position the trolley feet close to the drum, then place the drum rim grabs over the top rim of the drum. Pull back whilst pushing the trolley feet under the drum using pressure from your foot on the lower axle.
With the drum completely on the trolley. Keep pulling back until the trolley is sliding down the face of the pallet with the drum on it.
